How to Make a Nourishing Hair Cream

Organic products are the “real deal” as far as modern society is concerned and as people are moving away from chemical-based produced to a safer one.

Although in the real sense, most organic products are not what they claim to be. They may contain chemicals like preservatives, colour and fragrances added to them.

Some may even contain steroids and other harmful chemicals in high doses.

Moreover, most “organic creams” are overhyped. To make sure of what you apply on your hair, you can make one yourself.

If you want to go into commercial production, then you will surely spend more buying essential oil for fragrances and natural preservatives.

However, producing a non-organic cream does not mean the product is less safe. Whether organic or not, what matters is that you use safer products that can benefit your hair.

You can still produce a nourishing hair cream fortifying them well enough to promote hair growth.

If you are looking for a simple and natural hair cream;

  • Get shea butter and henna powder
  • Melt the butter and add your henna
  • Mix them thoroughly and add in a container
  • Apply it to your hair just as you would apply other hair creams

For those who are interested in producing a nice hair cream either for personal use or for commercial purposes, I hope this recipe will help

Ingredients

  • Paraffin oil (1/2 litre)
  • Paraffin wax (optional) – thickener

Add small quantity or else your hair cream will take the form of a candle.

  • Petroleum jelly (0.125kg) – emollients
  • Stearic acid (1 teaspoon) – emulsifier and thickener
  • Lanolin (1 teaspoon) – emollient
  • Glycerine (1 tablespoon or more) – a humectant
  • Menthol (½ teaspoon or to taste) – cooling sensation and scalp treatment
  • Vitamin E oil (1 tablespoon or more)
  • Fragrance

Optional

  • Colour and preservatives

I added NO colour and preservative in this hair cream as there is little or no water in the product.

However, you should use a safer preservative if you are planning to sell it, depending on what ingredients you have added.

Other ingredients are

  • Henna powder
  • Indian hemp

You can add other ingredients like Gotu Kola and essential oils, which are beneficial to the hair if they are within your reach.

Preparation

Making hair creams are one of the simplest hair care recipes to make.

  • Place a pot on the stove or gas cooker on low heat
  • Add paraffin oil, petroleum jelly and wax (if you are using it)
  • Allow it to heat well enough and melt
  • Off the stove
  • Add lanolin, stearic acid, glycerine, menthol, vitamin E oil and stir together
  • Add your fragrance
  • If you have other ingredients like Indian hemp, henna etc., you can add it now and stir
  • Allow the mixture to cool a little bit and stir again before pouring it in a container
  • Close the container and allow it to cool entirely

Your hair cream is now ready for use.
